Why You Aren't Valuing Your Time
DAY 23/31 OF THE GLOW MORNING BABE DISCUSSIONS
Today, let’s dive into something so many women face when stepping into a new chapter of life: the challenge of managing their time. But here's the deeper truth—this isn't just about scheduling or to-do lists. It's about recognizing and fully embracing the value of your time. When you see your time as the precious, non-renewable resource it is, you start making decisions that honor it—and, by extension, honor yourself.
When we don’t recognize the value of our time, we often fall into patterns that hold us back. Old habits—those comfortable, familiar routines that once served us in our previous life—cling on for dear life, refusing to let go. Every time we indulge these habits, we’re essentially choosing them over the new life we’re trying to build. It’s not just time slipping through your fingers—it’s opportunity.
And then there’s the mental tug-of-war of overthinking. When you’re venturing out on your own, every decision feels like it’s weighed down by the fear of messing up. Maybe you’re used to being told what to do, or perhaps you’ve been criticized for having an opinion. Either way, the pressure to get it right can paralyze you. The time you spend second-guessing yourself? It’s time that could be spent creating, building, or simply living.
But let’s be honest: sometimes we use planning as a crutch. Yes, planning can feel empowering, especially when facing the unknown. It gives you a sense of control, like you’re preparing for battle. But if you get stuck in an endless cycle of researching, strategizing, and perfecting, you’ll never take action. Time spent planning is only valuable if it leads to movement—otherwise, it’s just another way to stay in place.
So, here’s my question for you: which of these traps resonates with you?
Are you letting old habits dictate your time? Overthinking your every move? Or maybe you’re stuck in a planning loop?
The good news? The key to breaking free lies in using tools that help you value your time—tools that make productivity feel personal, purposeful, aligned with your goals, and fun!
Drop your thoughts in the comments—I’d love to hear your perspective.
Let’s start the conversation and get you on the path to honoring your time and, ultimately, yourself.
How Do We Start Valuing Our Time?
If you’ve been feeling stuck in the endless cycle of to-do lists and distractions, here’s the good news: there’s a better way. One productivity hack I discovered in 2024 completely changed how I approach my day, and it’s definitely earning a permanent spot in my planner for 2025. It’s not just a tool; it’s a mindset shift—gamified action pages.
What does that mean? It’s about turning your to-do lists into productivity games. For me, it’s been a game-changer (pun intended). Instead of staring at a never-ending list of tasks, I keep my ADHD brain engaged by making those tasks fun and interactive. The result? I feel not only more productive but also more energized and excited to tackle the day.
The best part is that this isn’t just about completing tasks; it’s about rethinking how you spend your time. When you gamify your productivity, you start noticing just how much you can accomplish and experience within the same 24 hours. Suddenly, minor distractions lose their appeal because your time feels too valuable to waste.
And since you’re here with me today (something I deeply appreciate), I want to share some of my favorite productivity games. Whether you’ve been following along with me since I wrote Loneliness is a Killer or are just joining the journey, I’m so glad we’re connecting. If you’ve read that piece, you’ll know why fostering meaningful connections adds so much value to our time.
These productivity games are simple, customizable, and designed to bring a spark of fun to your day. I encourage you to try one—or all of them—and make them your own. After all, the best tools are the ones that fit you.
All I ask? Let me know which one(s) you’re trying! Share how you’ve customized them or how they’ve impacted your day. I believe that spending our time connecting over deep, life-changing topics like this is one of the easiest—and most rewarding—ways to honor and add value to our time.
